Description

In most workplaces, the word “conflict” generates feelings of tension, fear, and frustration. Because human relationships are messy, some conflict is unavoidable in any setting–but it doesn’t have to be destructive. Could differences in opinion possibly be one of a team’s most valuable assets? In this presentation, Wendy Goldberg and Jeremy Fricke of Tri-Faith Initiative will demonstrate that conflict doesn’t have to tear teams apart. It can be fruitful–even essential–for the functioning of a diverse team. Toward this end, our presenters will explore the importance of open, healthy conflict in a productive workplace, as well as the ways that trust and risk lay the foundation for that kind of environment. The nonprofit Tri-Faith Initiative is located on a diverse campus where houses of worship for three different religions reside together as neighbors. From this unique vantage point, Tri-Faith stakeholders have gained invaluable insights on inclusion, collaboration, and navigating contrasting worldviews.
