Speaker Bio
John is the president of the William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation where he has worked since 2015. Previously, John was a mediocre executive director of a social service agency, an incompetent employment litigator, and a tax credit attorney, who was terrible with numbers. In addition and despite his obvious lack of knowledge, expertise, or other redeemable qualities, John has served as a trustee or board director for more than 15 organizations including a memorable three year run as the czar of Nonprofit Association of the Midlands. John is also an active community volunteer coaching and being the ball boy for a refugee girls soccer team and mentoring at-risk youth. Naively believing he could be the next Indiana Jones, Levy earned his bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Latin American Studies and Anthropology from the University of Kansas before living by an archaeology site in Xochicalco, Mexico. After this failed effort, Levy went on to earn his master’s degree in history and his juris doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law. More recently, John was a Senior Executive Fellow at Harvard University. In his free time, John and his much better half Bethany are raising three savages/boys ages 12, 10, and 7.
