In this dynamic session led by I Be Black Girl’s Advocacy & Power Building team, nonprofit professionals will explore innovative approaches to building power through civic engagement, with a focus on uplifting Black communities. Participants will delve into the intersection of voter engagement, community organizing, and advocacy, gaining practical insights and actionable strategies to amplify Black voices, mobilize communities, and drive meaningful change. Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, attendees will discover how centering Black perspectives and experiences can strengthen civic engagement efforts and foster inclusive, equitable outcomes.

1. Understand the importance of Black-centered civic engagement: Participants will gain an appreciation for the unique challenges and opportunities inherent in Black-led voter engagement work, recognizing its vital role in building power and advancing social justice.

2. Learn effective voter engagement strategies: Drawing on the expertise of the Black-centered organization, attendees will explore proven tactics and best practices for mobilizing Black voters, increasing voter turnout, and empowering communities to advocate for their needs and priorities.

3. Explore the intersectionality of civic engagement: Through insightful discussions, participants will examine how issues of race, identity, and systemic inequities intersect with civic participation, and how centering Black perspectives can inform more inclusive and impactful engagement strategies.

4. Identify opportunities for collaboration and collective action: Facilitated exchanges will enable attendees to connect with peers, share insights, and explore opportunities for collaboration with Black-centered organizations and community leaders, fostering a spirit of solidarity and collective empowerment.

5. Leave with actionable steps: Participants will depart with concrete action plans and resources to apply within their organizations, equipping them to integrate Black-centered approaches to civic engagement and drive positive change in their communities.
